8 Compelling Reasons You Need to Use Video Marketing

By | Business, Food for thought, Marketing, Our Opinion | No Comments

In one of our previous blog posts, we spoke about 5 Smart Reasons to Start Using Online Video Marketing. But let us just build onto that post with eight powerful reasons on why you need to use video marketing as a part of your digital marketing strategy.

While video marketing is one of the newest addition to your marketing strategy toolbox it is also one of the most powerful. It is definitely worth considering using videos as a form of enhancing your digital appearance online. Why? Well, because using video is one of the most versatile and profitable digital marketing tools there is and let me expand on that:

1. Video Boosts Conversions and Sales

Video content marketing can make you some serious money if you have the right resources and the correct production company behind you because it is an easier way for your potential customers to see what you have in store as well as strengthen your brand’s message. Through that, it can lead directly to sales; studies shows that 74% of users who watched a video about a product subsequently bought it. Not only that but as stated in our previous blog post, 80% of customers remember a video they have watched in the last 30 days – and why wouldn’t they, if a single minute of video is equivalent to 1.8 million words…

2. Video Shows Great ROI

If that hasn’t already got you interested, 76% of businesses say that videos provide a great Return on Investment. Digital marketing has become the cheapest it’s ever been and pays off overall in the response your campaigns receive that will, in turn, ultimately grow your business.

3. Video Builds Trust

Building trust should be a constant goal for your business when it comes to your customers and your brand. The whole concept around content marking is based on trust and establishing long-term relationships with your consumers.

Video does all of this. Video content is very good at engaging and igniting emotions from the viewer. Just take a look at YouTube and how YouTubers have grown in the past 12 years; social media figures are now using the platform they have created to partner with you and help promote your brand. Video is an extremely powerful marketing tool to have up your sleeve, especially for building trust with your consumers; in fact, 57% of consumers say that video has given them more confidence to purchase the product online.

4. Google loves Videos

Did you know you’re 53 times more likely to show up first in Google if you have a video embedded on your website? Videos increase the time spent by visitors on your site thus, signals search engines that your site has fantastic content and raises your Search Engine ranking. Of course, it sounds a lot easier than it is in reality, but seeing as Google now owns YouTube there has been a dramatic increase on how videos can affect your search engine ranking.

5.Video Appeals to Mobile Users

In this day and age video and smartphones go hand in hand. According to PointsGroup, from 2012 to 2014, smartphone video views have increased by 400%! In today’s fast-paced world, people like to watch videos on the go, raising the percentage of smartphone users and in turn, expanding your video audience at the same time.

 6. Video Can Explain Everything

If a single minute of video can say an estimate of 1.8 million words then it should come as no surprise that videos can explain everything. 98% of users say they’ve watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service. Because of that, 45% of businesses who use video marketing use a video like this embedded onto their landing page, and of those businesses, a whopping 83% have said that their landing page video was effective.

7. Video Engages Even the Laziest Consumers

Nobody has time to read long product description or an in-depth essay about the services companies provide, not when a video is a proven way to show the product or the services in action! Video marketing is able to capture a wide audience and it works on so many different levels and engages with even the laziest consumer.

8. Video Encourages Shares

It’s a well-known fact that people like to share entertaining or informative videos with their friends and family if they enjoyed them. 76% of users say that they would share a branded video with their friends and family if they found it entertaining. This is a huge percentage of people that could increase the traffic to your website and potentially increase your ROI.

5 Smart Reasons to Start Using Online Video Marketing

By | Campaigns, Food for thought, Marketing, Our Opinion | No Comments

In today’s fast-paced world, video marketing is one of the few types of online material that provides the value and flexibility consumers need while catering to their busy on-the-go lifestyles. It has become the fastest growing and most in-demand forms of marketing there is. Here are five reasons why you need to use video marketing today:

1. Video content promotes brand recall.

As stated by HubSpot, 80% of customers remember a video they have watched in the last 30 days. What makes video content marking so powerful is that it is highly visual and auditive, making it easier for many customers to remember what they’ve seen compared to other marketing content.

This is extremely beneficial to your company because when a customer remembers your video marketing content, they are also remembering your brand. This will result in more sales and business growth for you. What’s better is, customers typically are prone to share videos they enjoy which in turn can expand your online reach, introducing more of your desired demographic to your website.

2. Video marketing can boost your site’s SEO.

65% of business executives visit a marketer’s website after viewing a branded video. Additionally, 50% of executives look for more information after seeing a product or services in a branded video. Due to this, a high quality, professional and relevant brand video can dramatically improve your website’s SEO by driving people to your homepage. HubSpot also leads on to report that 39% of business executives also contact the vendor after viewing the branded video.

Additionally, including a video on your website’s homepage can increase conversion rates by 80%.

3. Video content performs well on all devices.

When a company’s content isn’t compatible with any given device or browser system, the business loses traffic and suffers a decrease of conversions as a result. Luckily, video marketing is compatible on all devices, ranging from computers to mobile phones and tablets. Creating a user-friendly message for your consumers will help reach your consumers and expand your audience.

4. Video marketing can strengthen your brand’s message.

When you incorporate video content into your digital marketing strategy, you have a fantastic opportunity to strengthen your brand’s message and company persona home to your consumers.
Through simple features like branding, to finding the right voice and content, video marketing is the perfect tool to enhance your brand’s identity and make sure your customers know who you are.

5. Video content wants to go viral.

Viral content is all range at the moment, nobody can deny that. It is estimated that 92% of people who watch mobile videos share them with their friends and colleagues. This is a massive percentage of consumers and surpasses the share rate of many other types of marketing content out there.

A video is shared 1,200% more than both links and text combined and 60% of viewers will engage in a video post before a text post. This makes video content marketing a powerful tool for any brand that wants to expand its reach online and obtain wider audiences.

Still need persuading that video marketing is the way of the future?

See more marketing statistics shared by HubSpot to understand why video marketing has become popular in recent years:

  • Video is projected to claim more than 80% of all web traffic come 2019.
  • 96% of B2B organisations use video in some capacity in their marketing campaigns of which 73% report positive results to their ROI.
  • Embedding videos within landing pages can increase conversion rates by 80%.
  • 90% of customers report that product videos help them make purchasing decisions.
  • According to YouTube, mobile video consumption grows by 100% every year.
  • 87% of online marketers are currently using video content in their digital marketing strategies.
  • A third of the time people spend online is dedicated to watching videos.
  • Video ads now account for more than 35% of all ad spending online.
  • 59% of company decision makers would rather watch a video than read an article or blog post.
  • Digital marketing expert James McQuivey estimates that a single minute of video content is the equivalent of 1.8 million words.

From Script to Screen

By | Branding, Business, Campaigns, Food for thought, Marketing, Thousand Media | No Comments

Hello again! Time to let you in for a behind the scenes glimpse of how we, at Thousand Media, work creatively with our clients in creating our top quality, professional TV Commercials and Online Video content. I’m going to assume that if you are here reading this blog post, you have seen and read the services that we provide but we thought it would be a good idea to go into this in more depth for you!

First, we meet with you to understand your business, your objectives, and services as well as your desired demographics. From this meeting, we are able to form a brief where we formulate our ideas. Once the concepts are formed, we turn them into scripts and storyboards so you are able to get a visual sense of the end product. At the end of this stage, we come back and pitch these concepts back to you free of charge!

Once it is established what concept you like the most, we develop the idea further in a creative rationale that obtains all the relevant documentations needed for you to make your decision on whether this is the concept you would want to go with for your campaign.
From there, we agree on the budget and Thousand Media get the official go-ahead to start Production! Contracts are formed and invoices for the first 50% of the budget are sent and away we go! (pssst… if you would like to hear more about what’s included in our production process, click here.)

As you’ve most likely seen all over our website and social media, we take care of the whole production from Script to Screen. As soon as you give us the official go ahead, we are busy, busy, busy making sure the campaign achieves its maximum potential, starting with scouting for the perfect location to set your TV advertisement or online video. From then on we invite you into our humble abode at 77-79 Blythe Road for a Pre-Production meeting where we fill you in on our plans and make sure you are 100% happy with the progress taking place for the campaign and the choices being made. Casting would also take place on this day (if the concept requires actors). After that, we knuckle down and prepare the remaining details/requirements for the upcoming shooting days.

On the day of the shoot, you get to see us in action and oversee the whole production day from start to finish, making sure you are happy with the outcome of the video. The day after the filming ends, our editor knuckles down to create the first Offline Edit for your viewing. From there, we await your feedback and make the desired changes to your campaign and present the Second Cut to you a week later! But it doesn’t stop there, while you are looking at that, we also send it off to our composer to compose some magical, original music that will transform your campaign before inviting you back into our lovely Production House to sit down with us for your Final Online Edit to oversee us putting all the finishing touches on the master edit, ready for clearance for broadcast (Clearcast).

After it’s cleared we will send it along to the required destinations so you don’t have to worry about a thing!

But our service’s doesn’t stop there, oh no, we can help you track the response your campaign. It is our every intention to improve and innovate with you as your business flourishes so we can see where improvements and further opportunities can be found.

Our Top Five Favourite Adverts!

By | Marketing, Our Opinion, Videos | No Comments

Here at Thousand Media, we love watching advertisements as well as admiring and praising the work of many advertising production companies around.

Today is no exception.

In fact, this blog post is a form of celebration if you will because we are going to count down our 5 favourite advertisements! Starting with…

1.Guinness | Surfer:

…Guinness ‘Surfer’! These aren’t particularly in order but this is definitely favourite at Thousand Media HQ mainly due to the sheer creativity of the advertisement. Guinness are always known for their iconic advertisements, but this one created by Jonathan Glazer is truly something else. As the description of the YouTube video states: “From Leftfield’s music and the ‘Moby Dick’ voiceover to the surfers battling Neptune’s Horses, it’s the perfect cinema ad.”

2. Investec | Races:

This leads us onto Investec. This TV Commercial is so cinematically beautiful with the combination of the locations, costumes, the cinematography and the editing styles that this is a clear favourite with the Director here at TM.

3. Carling | Black Label:

Carling is another brand that always likes to create iconic advertisements for their viewers, this being no exception. Personally, I’ve never tasted Black Label (and in all honesty, I doubt I would ever particularly want to) but after watching Carling’s famous campaign created in the early 70’s using the tagline “I bet he drinks Carling Black Label”, I’m wondering whether I should. I suppose in that regard, the campaign worked.

This humour filled spoof of Dambusters advert created for the campaign is probably the most famous, and our personal favourite due to how excellently executed it is.

4. WaterAid | Help them do their business:

This is personally one of my favourite advertisements around due to the comedic approach Grain Media (and WaterAid) have taken to DRTV, something we at Thousand Media are prone to do ourselves.

Not only have they taken this new approach to DRTV, but they did it in a way that still captured the true meaning of the campaign and what the organisation itself stands for – they never lost the message they were trying to get across with humour instead, they put the message in a way that we as a westernised country would grasp easily and relate to: we wouldn’t want to go to the bathroom in those environments, so why should people less fortunate than us be forced to?

5. WaterAid | If men had periods – “manpons”:

Next on our list is produced once again by WaterAid (are you sensing a theme here?) in the form of parody advertisement for a menstrual item for men called ‘manpons‘. Are you hooked by that name? Because I sure was.

There’s always been this misconception that men and women can’t share the same skin/healthcare products as well as the most obvious and prominent ‘taboo’ of the female periods and the constructs society has on the matter. What I love particularly about this ad is its sheer blatant silliness from start to finish, which you can see in its style of video (most notably, the tone of voice over and choice of backing music) and the written dialogue portrayed on the screen both on and off the additional graphics. However, what I love the most about this advertisement is, of course, its message. The title “If men had periods” essentially calls out the annoying misconception in the industry that male products have to be marketed and branded as extremely masculine ‘only for men’ products as well as stating in the ending text that not all women with periods are able to look after themselves properly during their periods due to the lack of hygienic toilet environments – again, sticking to the true meaning of what the company is about.

(FYI – WaterAid also did a few more videos for this campaign and they are all fantastic. See them here.)

Why Does TV Advertising Work?

By | Advertising, Branding, Business, Campaigns, DRTV, Food for thought, Marketing, Thousand Media | No Comments

While it cannot be denied that TV advertising is the most effective advertising medium around, at least, not from the office of Thousand Media; there have been tons of evidence that help back this claim on the internet through the years and it just doesn’t seem to be diminishing – no matter the online platform’s continued rise in popularity. However, the question I am asking today is: why does Television Advertising work so well?

While online content rises in popularity with the online video streaming websites such as Netflix and Hula and social media websites like Facebook and Twitter, you would expect the impacts of TV advertisements to plummet in their sales due to consumer/audience reaches but it never did. In actuality, digital marketing cannot make up the reach TV delivers on its own. Digital is and should be used in a way that compliments TV advertising to form a more effective multimedia strategy (but we will talk about that in a later blog post).

What makes TV Advertising work so well, I believe, is the way it focuses purely on the targeted, correct consumers for the brand, services or company that is being advertised by showcasing the advertisement in the peak times the targeted demographic would be watching. Not only this, but it is the most effective way to not only maintain and secure new clients than any other advertising medium but to increase profit through ROI! A recent study shows that with every £1 invested in Television Advertising, £1.79 is returned to the investor which is above any other form of advertising medium!!

Overall, TV Advertising is a fantastic way to advertise your campaigns, it allows you to reach a broader audience (87% of people over 18!) like no other single advertising medium while giving you the chance to tell your message with a compelling story, instantly engaging with your customers in innovative ways – what’s not to love?

Benefits of Video Advertising

By | Advertising, Branding, Business, Campaigns, Food for thought, Marketing, Our Opinion | No Comments

Another week, another blog post – hurrah! In this week’s blog post we will be discussing video advertising, or rather, the benefits video advertising has for your company.

There are a lot of benefits for your business, brand or service when it comes to using video advertising, the most obvious being that you’re able to reach a broader range of potential consumers that you wouldn’t necessarily have access to without video advertising. Statistics have proven that your target audience is watching video content – it’s true! 92% of B2B prospects consume online video, 4 billion videos are watched on YouTube every day and about 1/3 of shoppers will purchase a product after viewing a video advertisement.

And if that isn’t enough to sell you on video advertising here are 4 other key advantages:

  • Another major advantage to video content is that people are prone to share videos that they find valuable or think other people on their social media’s would find interesting. This can dramatically increase the exposure of your brand, service or company exponentially.
  • It’s a common fact that people spend the majority of their time on their smartphones, I’m not denying it – heck, I bet you’re even reading this blog post on your smartphone (I caught you, didn’t I?). Well, video advertisements do well among mobile users. Statistics show that companies distributing video that are 88% of short pieces (around 30 secs) are watched through to the end on their mobiles which cannot be said for those viewing the same advertisement on a computer.
  • Search engines love videos. In fact, many search engines put a high priority on video content which raises the ranking on certain pages searched. Meaning that the more a video advertisement is shared on social media, the higher the likelihood that your desired target audience would find you when searching the relevant topics.
  • Here at Thousand Media, we believe that video advertising allows you the chance to tell your message with a compelling story and to engage with your audience in innovative ways. A video conveys huge amounts of information in a short time that you wouldn’t necessarily be able to do with text. It’s more engaging and interesting for the viewers because video tells your story better than other formats, you can make a more solid personal relationship through visual storytelling.

But what are your thoughts? Let us know in the comments!

Paingone Plus Back On TV Now!

By | Advertising, DRTV, Thousand Media, Thousand Media Updates, Videos | No Comments

Our recent advert, Paingone Plus is now on TV but you, you lucky devil get to watch it right here on our blog – huzzah!

If you’ve never heard of Paingone Plus or you merely just need a refresher; Paingone Plus is a clinically proven, leading portable device for “on-the-go” pain-relief. It’s older counterpart Paingone sold over 1.4 million units worldwide!

To fit with the theme of this advertisement (which you can watch above if you haven’t already), we decided to shoot everything against a green screen as opposed to filming on location with the help from our lovely friends over at The Camden Studio. Doing this, we were able to maintain our promise to create top quality advertisements for only a fraction of the cost while achieving fantastic results that we were all extremely happy with.

In the tradition of DRTV, the ad presents a spokesman explaining the Paingone Plus product to the consumers sitting at home for it then to be confirmed by the testimonials given from the happy customers. This is in keeping with the original Paingone advertisement that we created, which you can rewatch here, where you will see that we used the same elements that worked successfully for the marketing of the original product which caused an incredible increase in sales.

When creating a pharmaceutical advertisement, or rather any advertisement, it is required for you to follow ASA and CAP Codes and Regulations. This helps us make sure that anything that we send out to be streamed to the public isn’t unintentionally harmful, offensive or misleading to the consumer and the viewer.
